This is a special post to me, and it will be for you too. It&#8217;s not intended to be biased, but rather lessons I have learned, hence what the title suggest.</p>
<p>I have listed these valuable nuggets below. Enjoy! <span id="more-752"></span></p>

<li>Keep it simple. Less is more.</li>
<p></p>
<li>End the habit of being a perfectionist. The most important part is to get it going, and then making the changes, tweaks and improvements</li>
<p></p>
<li>An idea is nothing until breath some life into it</li>
<p></p>
<li>Build relationships first before you ever try to sell anything. People will naturally follow those whom they know, like and trust</li>
<p></p>
<li>The latest tools aren&#8217;t going to make you an expert if you don&#8217;t know how to use it</li>
<p></p>
<li>Share your knowledge. I once heard a variation of the &#8220;Give a man a fish  and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a  lifetime&#8221;. The variation is &#8220;Give a man a fish and you feed him for a  day. Teach a man to fish and you can sell him fishing equipment.</li>
<p></p>
<li>If everything seems slow, you&#8217;re distracted. Distraction stops you from getting more done. If possible, eliminate as many distractions as you can &#8211; your phone, instant messaging, unnecessary websites and windows opened. Make sure people know you&#8217;re busy.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Keep learning. In life you either grow or you die, just like a plant. Knowledge cannot be bought, it needs to be learned</li>
<p></p>
<li>Make your customers happy and they&#8217;ll keep buying from you</li>
<p></p>
<li>Saving money isn&#8217;t about the amount you save, but the habit. Start saving any amount, whether it&#8217;s $5 a week or $1000 a week, it doesn&#8217;t matter. It&#8217;s the habit that matters. The law of compounding will take effect.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Doing more hours doesn&#8217;t necessarily mean more work done. Don&#8217;t overwhelm yourself with work just for the sake of it</li>
<p></p>
<li>Building your list should be your number one priority. Your list is an asset for life.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Don&#8217;t spend too much at the start. Do what you can yourself first and then consider outsourcing.</li>
<p></p>
<li>The &#8220;fail fast&#8221; mantra should fail. It should be reworded to a more positive saying, like &#8220;launch and learn&#8221;</li>
<p></p>
<li>Don&#8217;t worry about trying to compete against your competition and trying to be bigger and better. Stick with your unique selling proposition (USP).</li>
<p></p>
<li>Don&#8217;t try to be everything to everyone. You can&#8217;t satisfy everyone but you can satisfy a good number of loyal customers. Seth Godin&#8217;s <a href="http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2010/12/everyone-and-no-one.html" target="_blank">post</a> says it all.</li>

<li>Don&#8217;t make project management complicated, that&#8217;s when trouble starts to happen</li>
<p></p>
<li>Buying established websites is a great ROI. Go to Flippa.com and you&#8217;ll find a vast variety of established websites.</li>
<p></p>
<li>The best way to get through your to do list is to break it down in to smaller, manageable bite sized tasks</li>
<p></p>
<li>Setting a goal that&#8217;s too much ahead of time puts blinders in your path</li>
<p></p>
<li>Videos are the way the go. We live in a very interactive world. Take advantage of what the Internet has to offer</li>
<p></p>
<li>Switching to a Mac has helped me get more done</li>
<p></p>
<li>The advantage of having an internet business is that you&#8217;re not restricted to just working from home. I can be anywhere in the world while still making money, as long as I  have my laptop and an Internet connection. I&#8217;ve setup my laptop to have  everything I need to run my business.</li>

<li>The possibilities are endless when you think of the opportunities around you</li>

<li>Don&#8217;t take on more than you can handle</li>

<li>Going back to the basics of exchanging value always works</li>

<li>Speaking slower and with emphasis makes your speech more clearer and powerful</li>

<li>The law of reciprocity is a golden rule to living an abundant life</li>

<li>SEO isn&#8217;t complicated. People make it more complicated than it is</li>

<li>If you can&#8217;t handle your current state, then you won&#8217;t be able move ahead</li>

<li>Your mastermind group will help you move forward. You&#8217;ll leverage on other people&#8217;s strengths, and that&#8217;s what will accelerate your success by miles. You&#8217;ll surround yourself with like-minded people who&#8217;ll inspire and keep you accountable</li>

<li>There&#8217;ll never be another Facebook</li>
<p></p>

<li>A market can never be saturated. Anyone can get a piece of the pie.</li>

<li>There&#8217;s plenty of information if you just search on Google.</li>

<li>You shouldn&#8217;t have to prove yourself to anyone.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Worry about the bigger things rather than the smaller things</li>

<li>Have a central location/website where you have your documentations, videos and how to&#8217;s to train people you outsource. It&#8217;ll save hours of your time.</li>

<li>Batch your work. Do emails all at once. Make all phone calls at the same time. Update your WordPress blogs all at once. You get the point.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Unless you&#8217;re bored, most people aren&#8217;t willing to spend the time to fiddle around. If you can provide a &#8220;ready-to-go&#8221; product/service, you&#8217;ll sell lots of it.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Find something that works. Do it. If it gives you results, systemize it and outsource &amp; delegate as much of it as possible.</li>
<p></p>
<li>People are willing to do anything for a low cost if you look around. Check Fiverr.com.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Encourage visitors to share your content. You can use share buttons on your site, or simply tell your visitors to feel free to share.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Rome wasn&#8217;t built in a day, and the pyramids were built stone by stone, layer upon layer. Start somewhere. Take the first step. Get something out there for people to see. There&#8217;ll never be &#8220;the right time&#8221;.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Do something each day to move your business and life forward, even if it&#8217;s just a small bit. You&#8217;ll end up with massive improvement in a short time and build momentum.</li>
<p></p>
<li>In times when I&#8217;m stressed and under pressure, I get away for a moment, take deep breaths and reflect back on what&#8217;s important in life. It helps clear the mind so you get back with better focus.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Always be grateful for what you have and where you are at this present moment. If you&#8217;re not grateful for your current state, then you&#8217;re putting barriers which will stop you from attracting more into your life.</li>
<p></p>
<li>A sure-fire way to accelerate your success is to study those who are already doing what you want to achieve. Success leaves clues!</li>
<p></p>
<li>One thing I like to do is to learn mistakes from others so that I don&#8217;t make the same down the track.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Stop wasting time. Being organized is a key characteristic of achieving high.</li>
<p></p>
<li>A key way to grow is to stretch your comfort zones. Being &#8220;comfortable&#8221; won&#8217;t let you stretch to your fullest potential.</li>
<p></p>
<li>You can apply the Parkinson&#8217;s Law and Pareto&#8217;s 80/20 principle to everything you do. Parkinson&#8217;s Law dictates that work expands to fill the time available for its completion.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Nothing is a coincidence. There&#8217;s always a reason why.</li>
<p></p>
<li>What ever you find works should be done over and over and over and over and over again until it doesn&#8217;t work anymore.</li>
<p></p>
<li>If you&#8217;re not passionate about what you&#8217;re doing, sooner or later you&#8217;ll get bored.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Every morning when you wake up, ask yourself &#8220;What am I grateful for?&#8221; This will surely start your day with purpose and lots of energy.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Focus on what you can control</li>
<p></p>
<li>Create a blog and start posting. I found that people do look and read but often don&#8217;t comment. The main idea is to get into the flow of sharing.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Find and connect with people in your industry. Joint-venture partners will help you grow your business dramatically as it has for me. I have a small group of JV partners but we always help each other grow, and it&#8217;s great to just have people who understand what you&#8217;re going through.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Life isn&#8217;t always about work. Balance your work and life areas. You want to make sure you stay sane. Make time for family, your social life, your partner, health &amp; fitness and of course, yourself.</li>
<p></p>
<li>The best way to show someone you genuinely care is to share valuable knowledge, content, ideas or simply being there for them.</li>
<p>
</ol>
<p>I hope you take what I&#8217;ve learned and apply it to your work and life. As valuable as they are to me, I&#8217;m sure they will be for you too.</p>

<p>The problem is most people starting out aren&#8217;t doing it right. What I mean is, they&#8217;re creating jobs for themselves instead of creating a business. I won&#8217;t lie to you though &#8212; I was in the same position.<span id="more-656"></span></p>

<p>A few years ago, I read a book called &#8216;<a href="http://www.amazon.com/-Myth-Revisited-Small-Businesses-About/dp/0887307280/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1289218085&amp;sr=8-1" target="_blank">The E-Myth: Revisited</a>&#8216; by Michael E. Gerber, and in his book he emphasizes that most small business owners are working IN their business instead of ON their business.</p>
<p>To elaborate further, Gerber says that most business owners are doing too much of the &#8220;technical&#8221; work &#8212; they&#8217;re wearing all the hats in their business. They&#8217;re doing all the research, writing, creating, designing, fixing, maintaining, emailing, customer support, and it doesn&#8217;t end there.</p>
<p>Does this sound familiar to you?</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a position you didn&#8217;t expect but feel obligated to do because you want to make sure your business runs smoothly. What first was meant to give you more time, money and freedom is now something you can&#8217;t let go of and feel responsible for.</p>

I use <a href="http://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTYyNTc0NDY5" target="_blank">Dropbox</a> as a quick &amp; easy way to share documents, presentations, website files, and ebooks with my staff and associates.</p>
<p>I upgraded to the &#8216;Pro 50&#8242; account which gives me 50GB of storage for just $9.99 a month because I also like to keep backup and sync files from my computer, too.</p>
<p>You probably don&#8217;t need that much space if you&#8217;re starting out. This tool proves to be invaluable if you use more than one computer but want have the same bookmarks on all. It&#8217;s a useful tool when trying to illustrate your point to someone, instead of typing step-by-step how to do it. I use it everyday in my business to explain a new concept, share an idea or an update with my staff. It&#8217;s hassle-free, and it doesn&#8217;t cost a thing. You can record tutorials and presentations of anything so you can get demonstrate your idea, educate your customers, create promotional videos and more.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">Whenever I have a new product to create, I login to Basecamp, create a new project, create some &#8220;To do&#8217;s&#8221;, and then assign tasks to the appropriate staff. So if one of the to-do&#8217;s requires website design, I assign that particular to-do to the designer. The designer will then get notified via email that there&#8217;s a new task to fulfill.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">As an administrator, you can control who sees what. John may see Project X but can&#8217;t see Project Y. You can set it all in the control panel. <p style="text-align: left;">Outlook is the old way of managing email. It&#8217;s now easier and faster to handle email using Gmail. You can create &#8220;labels&#8221; which works like folders. I personally have somewhere around 200+ labels to organize different types of emails.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">You can set filters to filter emails from different senders. You can add more functions using Google &#8220;Labs&#8221;. One of the most powerful features is it&#8217;s spam filter.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">It filters out spam so you don&#8217;t have to see it in your inbox. I&#8217;ve tweaked my Gmail account to the point that by the end of the day, there&#8217;ll be zero emails in my inbox.</p>

<p>This product is what the name suggest. You&#8217;ll no longer need to remember passwords. If you&#8217;re still remembering passwords or using one password for everything (bad idea), then it&#8217;s time to let go and let LastPass handle all your passwords. I&#8217;ve tried many password managers and nothing comes close to this.</p>
<p>I used to be a long time fan of RoboForm but I shifted to LastPass a few months ago and never looked back. Unlike traditional password managers where you actually need to be on that computer where it&#8217;s installed, LastPass stores all your passwords on their secure server. So it doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re away from the office, overseas or a friend&#8217;s place. <p style="text-align: left;">This blog you&#8217;re on right now is powered by WordPress. I also use WordPress to centralize staff documentation and training because it&#8217;s easy to post, comment and share information.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">With the amount of Wordpres plug-ins and themes out there already, you can control how you want your site to function, as well as how it looks. You can install it quickly &amp; easily using Fantastico Deluxe in your cPanel account or download it from <a href="http://www.wordpress.org" target="_blank">WordPress.org</a>.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">12. Storm On Demand</h3>

<p style="text-align: left;">I use a special kind of web hosting service called &#8220;cloud servers&#8221;. For the typical webmaster, this would probably be out of the range. However, if you&#8217;re planning a big launch or generating lots of traffic then this would be of value.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">You get the same or better performance as a dedicated server. The major difference is that you can scale up or down real easy, to accommodate the traffic. For instance, if you&#8217;re planning a big launch next month, you can upgrade to a more powerful server without transferring files from your old server to the new server. That&#8217;s why they call it cloud servers. And you only pay for what you use.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">At the time of writing, I&#8217;m on the Bare Metal Intel Dual Xeon E5506 plan with a fast SAS drive for better performance. Yea, geek talk, I know.</p>

<p>It took a while to adapt to a Mac. I hated it the first week, but then got used to it. I love it so much now!</p>

<p>Faced with flurries of task, messages, and concerns, each of us need to contend with heaps of work. We can wilt or we can get over the hump. Either way things need to get done! Here are some habit-changing schemes to increase your productivity&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>1. Have an intensive work space.</strong> There is a time for work and a place for work. Make sure you define your space where no one will disturb you.</p>
<p><strong>2. Organize your work space.</strong> Some prefer a minimalist approach while others draw a system in their work space. A tidy work space allows you to focus on what needs done.</p>
<p><strong>3. Eliminate distractions.</strong> Figure out what takes your focus away from your work (email, IM&#8217;s, cellphones) and turn them off.</p>
<p><strong>4. Plan the next day before you sleep.</strong> Night time is the right time to visualize what you should be doing tomorrow.</p>
<p><strong>5. Break large projects into small tasks.</strong> Understand what it takes to accomplish a large task and outline them in manageable sets.</p>
<p><strong>6. Focus on having a good start.</strong> What you do when you wake up sets the tempo for the day. By being in the right &#8220;place&#8221; physically and emotionally, you can focus on your tasks for the day.</p>

<p><strong>21. Work with your computer.</strong> Most people cannot get things done because of their &#8220;special relationship&#8221; with their computer. If you want to get things done, just install the minimal tools that will get you moving.</p>
<p><strong>22. Develop a spontaneous yet structured work pattern</strong>. You cannot always free up your time with distractions, but you cannot have too rigid of a schedule either. Find the right balance by thinking ahead.</p>

<p><strong>68. Write Deadlines in bold.</strong> In our job, deadlines are important. When you have a to-do list make sure you have the deadline written in clear black, highlighted letters for emphasis.</p>
<p><strong>69. Have clear deadlines.</strong> Some tasks have deadlines that are neither here or there. If the client does not give you a clear deadline, challenge yourself and make your own deadline.</p>
<p><strong>70. Understand what you have accomplished.</strong> It is easy to cross out a task, but it is harder to put the accomplished task in perspective. Know why the task is needed so that you know you are going somewhere when you are done.</p>
<p><strong>71. Learn from your mistakes.</strong> If you fail in completing a task, do not brush it off. Analyze what went wrong and avoid the mistake next time.</p>
<p><strong>72. Overextend sometimes.</strong> Sometimes you just have to get down, get dirty, or stay late until the job gets done. That is reality and no other productivity tip can change that.</p>

<p><strong>75. Monitor Energy Drains.</strong> Subtle and seemingly harmless things might put you in jeopardy and leave you tired before you even start work. Less sleeping time, more TV, dragging relationships, are energy drainers that take productivity away from your work.</p>
